A Virtual Private Server is indeed a 'dedicated' server that has been split up so that the server resources in the host machine can be shared among other clients. VPS deliver performance far beyond shared hosting and gives you flexibility and control of that of a dedicated server.
Virtual private servers
Do you need full access to a server to install your application or script but still can’t afford the price of a dedicated server? If yes, VPS is the answer for your needs. At VPSnoc we focus only on VPS solutions and this allows us to maintain the quality of service.
We offer over 40 OS templates, 2 entirely different virtualization techniques, and industry leading control panels including cPanel allowing customers to choose what they need from our endless resources.
All our VPS's are unmanaged and customers will have to setup everything from their end including 3rd party software installs, VPS administration and so on. With that said, feel free to contact our support anytime if you need assistance and we will try our best to answer your queries as soon as possible.
Different types of Virtualization
At VPSnoc customer has the full privilege to choose the VPS they need. We do have Operating System level virtualization (OpenVZ) and para-virtualization (XEN) techniques at present.
OpenVZ guest VPS's use the same kernel as that of the host node. On the other hand XEN guest VPS's use their own instance of kernel thereby allowing multiple Operating Systems (Linux and Windows) in the same host machine.
Which VPS is suitable for me?
Most of the customers who plan on getting a VPS is often confused with the VPS spec they need. The CPU/memory you need should be selected depending on the application you run.
OpenVZ VPS are suitable for start up websites, wordpress blogs, social networking sites etc.
If your site has high traffic, you should consider getting a XEN VPS which offers better reliability and performance.
In a VPS, you are using just a slice of the dedicated resources available in the host machine. We have designed our VPS solutions in a way to make sure that VPS's are never oversold.
If you will be using VPS for shared and Reseller hosting, it is always better to use a control panel to manage all the accounts. You can use Industry leading control panels like cPanel/WHM, Plesk, DiectAdmin and so on to effectively manage the accounts. We do offer cheap VPS optimized cPanel licenses for just $12.00/month.
Common uses for VPS
Use for a VPS differs from customer to customer. However, you can use a VPS to host a simple VPN server to a complex PBX or a game server or a simple wordpress blog, cms to a huge traffic social networking site with audio, video streaming.
